The Virtual YouTuber (VTuber) movement is taking place mainly in Japan, but recently there is increasing momentum overseas.

From August 31 to September 2 2018, at the C3 Anime Festival Asia (C3AFA) Jakarta 2018, Vtubers Kizuna Ai, Dennou Sho Shirano and Maya Putri appeared. C3AFA Jakarta itself is one of the biggest events in Indonesia where local pop culture lovers gather, live by voice actors and singers belonging to Sony Music, I ♡ anisong, etc. are mainly planned.

Maya Putri debuted less than two weeks ago, and the introduction video already has more than 150,000 views, 13,000 likes, and 6,000 comments. At AFA, there were many fans taking photgraphs at the booth. You can check out @Mayaputriid on Instagram.

During Maya Putri’s live question time, people were suspicious that she was Japanese, but she surprised everyone when she spoke Javanese, and everyone laughed. Everyone also enjoyed when she performed 2 songs.

On the second day, Kizuna Ai performed a live session at the Akiba stage. everyone in the crowd screamed out Ai-chan. Ai-chan introduced herself fluently in Bahasa Indonesia and even answered some questions in Bahasa, and the fans were delighted.

Although the number of VTuber in Indonesia is still small, it is surprisingly one of the hot countries where a new VTuber is born at this moment. The future development of vtubers in Indonesia is very promising.
