Published 27 March 2019, 18:53

Bang & Olufsen has led the technology and design revolution for decades; evidence of their extraordinary abilities for reinvention. Partnering with OutHere to take advantage of the latest Augmented Reality technology, they have created a sophisticated experience to show off the best vision and sound system of that luxury brand.

The Bang & Olufsen AR Experience app, available now on iOS devices, is an AR experience that visually blends the real world and cyberspace by letting users place Bang & Olufsen products in their own space, change their universe and let it be visible. To the future.

As a Mixed Partner of Strategic Reality for Bang & Olufsen, OutHere helps companies develop their relationships with their customers by utilizing the fast-growing world of AR & VR to increase their desire and change the way their fans and prospective customers interact with brands.

In the end we helped brand drive innovation in the retail and digital channels while bringing fans closer to the products they liked.

"OutHere plays in an atmosphere of rare excellence and has core competencies to be executed at the leading market level."

How they did it

To create the B & O AR Experience, we must develop a complete ecosystem of processes, tools and services to bring the Bang & Olufsen product range to the full three-dimensional Augmented Reality world.

First we developed a special pipeline to convert product construction data into the high-quality 3D assets needed to enable visual quality that has never been seen in the AR mobile experience, highlighting the expertise represented by Bang & Olufsen.

Then we built a bespoke backend system to enable adjusting this 3D data to a possible configuration for any Bang & Olufsen product. In this way users can freely play with, colors, materials and size options on virtual products in their own space.

All of this, we are packaged in a sophisticated mobile AR application for iPhone and iPad, utilizing the latest immersive technology introduced by Apple in ARKit 2.0, part of iOS 12.
