Oculus Quest Release Full Hand Tracking

Oculus announced last Monday that they are taking the Hand Tracker Quest to the “next phase.” Developers who work with the hand tracking SDK can submit new games or update implementing features starting May 28. This Quest becomes the Oculus Quest Facebook all-in-one VR headset by eliminating the need for controllers. The application inside will make the user’s hand tracked by the same camera that is used for virtual movements or make movements in the open air.

This update is for the Quest system software (V17) and has been launched this month on Oculus Quest headsets worldwide and this Hand Tracker will move from the experimental phase to the general release feature. After this update is launched, supporting games will also be released, namely Waltz Of The Wizard and The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets. Indirectly this is also a trial for this update.

The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets, Waltz of the Wizard, and a technology demo named Elixir were first shown at the last Facebook VR developer conference and seem to fit these parameters. this will be the first fully interactive content to have a hand tracking feature through the Quest store. On May 28, Facebook will begin accepting other hand tracking applications.
